SG Chimney Sweep is a small, family run business based in Fakenham and working right across Norfolk. Steven Gerrard founded it in 2016, and in 2026 his son in law Jamie Moulton joined, so every customer now deals directly with one of the two people who own the name on the van.
We sweep open fires, wood burning stoves and multi fuel appliances in family homes, holiday cottages, pubs, hotels, farms and commercial premises. Every sweep is clean, careful and finished with a certificate you can hand to your insurer or landlord.
Founder
Steven Gerrard
Steven started SG Chimney Sweep in 2016 after a thirty year career in Norfolk Fire Service. Attending chimney fires over those years taught him exactly what a neglected flue can lead to, and it shaped how the business works: safety first, nothing rushed, and honest advice about what your chimney actually needs rather than what costs the most.
Steven is an NVQ qualified chimney sweep through the Guild of Master Chimney Sweeps.
Ten years on, that approach has built a reputation across Norfolk that speaks for itself. Most of our work now comes from repeat customers and their recommendations, from Fakenham and Holt to Norwich, King's Lynn and the coast.

Jamie Moulton
Jamie, Steven's son in law, joined the family business in 2026. He trained with Steven and is registered with the Guild of Master Chimney Sweeps, so both of us on the team hold the trade's recognised standard.
Having two sweeps means shorter waits during the busy autumn and winter months, more flexible appointment windows for holiday lets between changeovers, and enough capacity to look after commercial contracts with multiple flues on a scheduled basis.
How we work
Clean, careful and certificated
We know letting a stranger loose near your living room is a big ask, so we keep the process simple and tidy.
- ◆ We lay dust sheets and run a vacuum system while sweeping, so soot stays in the flue and not on your carpet.
- ◆ We check the flue, chimney pot, cowl and appliance as we go, and flag anything worth keeping an eye on, from wear to bird nests.
- ◆ We issue a sweep certificate after every job, useful for insurance, landlords and holiday let records.
- ◆ We clear up fully before we leave and give straightforward advice on burning well between sweeps.
